Thank God for Jack White

Icky Thump has been in heavy rotation on my iPod.  Some of the album is so-so, and honestly I forgive the White Stripes for that because the title track is freakin' awesome.  I mean, let's be honest - Meg's not a conservatory-trained percussionist and Jack is not necessarily a virtuoso.  But my God do they find IT when they play.

In my mind I can see clearly Jack's furiously switching between his guitar and that wierd, monophonic synth while Meg pounds on her drumset with a shaker and a drumstick in one hand.  These two have saved rock and roll.  I can't believe what a fan of Lo Fi this conservatory-trained boy is turning out to be.

Family Guy does Star Wars - and it rules

familyguy.jpg

If you have not yet seen the Family Guy parody of Star Wars, run, do not walk, to the nearest download location of your choice and get it.  I have watching this thing at least 5 times all the way through (I obsess - it's what I do) and it keeps getting funnier.  Trust me, you really, really need to see this if you are a Star Wars fan.

Play that funky music, white girl

My daughter, playing my bass (perhaps she needs a 3/4-size one?).  She gets the funk intensity in her eyes from her daddy :)  Rock on, sweetie!

New Fall TV Lineup 2007

So the new fall lineup is out, and it's already creating a backlog of work on my TiVo.  Some of it is, unfortunately, crap, and that's being disappointing.  The Bionic Woman, a show I've been eagerly awaiting all freaking summer long, has absolutely horrible dialogue.  Even the magnificent Miguel Ferrer cannot save this one for me.  Please, Please, Please make this show better.

Moonlight?  Vampire TV show?  This would seem to be right up my alley, but it's just not good at all.  The Vampire's name is Mick St. James?  Really?  That in and of itself should have told someone somewhere that this was going to be lame.

Good stuff abounds, though.  Dirty Sexy Money is magnificent.  Chuck is funny.  Pushing Daisies is OK, a little too cute.  Private Practice shows great promise.  So, I'm going to begin the weeding process soon, still too much to watch.

Thank God I still have the Family Guy.

Starting my blog

Hey there.  So, I've had several blogs but I've never had one at my own domain.  This is the last one - no more social network blogs for me, it's time to grow up.  Problem for you, dear reader, is that this will cover it all.  Family, business, technology, toys, music - absolutely anything that interests me.  I'll do my very best to keep them organized.

And here, of course, is my obligatory moody half-face picture:
